SevenHills Fabrication, part of the Steetley Corner Group of companies, has installed a £250,000 computer system as part of its investment programme.
The new computer system is part of a wider investment programme for the Sheffield company as it gears up for industry 4.0 automation and data exchange across its manufacturing technologies to target future growth.
SevenHillls, which can trace its history back to 1926, has recently installed a £60,000 state-of-the-art electric tube-bending machine and the computer system is designed to take the business to the next level of operational efficiency.
Managing director of SevenHills, James Harding-Terry, said: “The company’s transition to industry 4.0 is essential for future-proofing the business and the new computer system allows full mapping of production, accounting, purchasing and distribution.
“Operating in conjunction with new machines such as the tube bender and our forthcoming robot welder, the system will also help to up-skill our workforce so that they are able to adapt to Industry 4.0 methods.
“We look to continue expansion of our operations after ten years of consistent growth and having the technology, equipment and skills to run a manufacturing operation which continually adapts and improves is the future for this company. This approach should become prerequisite for all British manufacturers.”
SevenHills has demonstrated 31 per cent year-on-year growth with a turnover of 3.0 million GBP and will see investment reach one million GBP from 2017-2019. This contributes to Steetley Corner Group’s 7.7 million GBP turnover, growing at 23 per cent.
James Harding-Terry added: “Increasing our levels of investment will see further installations of new machinery in 2019, including a Bystronic press-brake and a Panasonic robot-welder, following the commissioning of a £550,000 GBP laser cutter less than two years ago.
“The UK has to work towards manufacturing stability, growth and global excellence for domestic businesses like ours to succeed. We must compete at the highest level, adopting the best resources available.”
Steetley Corner Group incorporates IT consultancy company, Acuma Technology, towbar specialist PCT Automotive and SevenHills Fabrication, based at Sheffield’s Holbrook Industrial Estate.
